Harrison County , TX : One Teen was killed after she lost control of her car and crashed into a tree on Thursday , December 11th 2014

An East Texas teen died Thursday after she lost control of her car and crashed into a tree.

Marshall Police Department Communications received a 9-1-1 call around 1 p.m. reporting a one vehicle accident in the 3800 block of Rosborough Springs.

M.P.D.'s Patrol Bureau as well as Marshall Firefighters/EMT responded to the scene.

Upon arrival to the location it was determined that a 4-door passenger car was traveling northbound on Rosborough Springs when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The driver of the passenger car, 17-year-old Colby Vernon of Marshall, was transported by ambulance to Good Shepherd Medical Center Marshall.

Vernon was pronounced deceased by Dr. Megan Lavens D.O.

An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death. The accident investigation is ongoing.

Vernon's father, Cody Vernon, posted this earlier today about the loss of his daughter:

"I never get on here and say much. But today I guess I will talk. I want everyone to get the story straight. My daughter Colby Colby Renae Vernonhad a wreck today on rosborough springs rd. just up from kings road. She was traveling alone and at a high rate of speed. That combine with weather and the road made a bad situation. I won't ever see her prom, I won't ever see her walk down the isle,I won't ever have grand babies. But what I do have is an angel in heaven watching over us. Noodle I love you and I'm sorry I couldn't save you. Love Daddy"
