EASTON TOWNSHIP, MI : Three others taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries on April, Tuesday 25th 2017
A 72-year-old woman from Greenville was killed and a woman and two children were injured in a three-car accident Tuesday afternoon on M-66 south of Dildine Road.
Officers from the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office and Ionia Department of Public Safety responded at 1:42 p.m. to a report of a rollover in the 1200 block of North State Road.
According to ICSO Sgt. William Hoskins, preliminary investigation at the scene showed that a Ford Fusion, driven by Gisela Peek, was stopped on the roadway waiting to turn left when she was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 70-year-old Lawrence Thelen of Ionia. The collision pushed the Fusion into the northbound lane, where it was struck by a Jeep Cherokee, driven by 29-year-old Jerald Soblesky III of Ionia.
Peek was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers in the Cherokee — a 27-year-old woman and two children — were taken to Butterworth Hospital and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, all with non life-threatening injuries, Hoskins said. Soblesky sought medical care on his own. Thelen was not injured.
Investigation of the accident by the sheriff’s office is continuing.
Also assisting with Tuesday’s accident were Life EMS Ambulance, Ionia County Central Dispatch, Ionia County Victim Advocates, the Ionia County Medical Examiner, and Reed & Hoppes Towing.
