Ashville, AL : Springville man dies, woman seriously injured after a crash in St. Clair County on Tuesday, June 7, 2016

A Springville man has died after a crash yesterday in St. Clair County.

On Monday, Jeremy Edward Walthall, 31, died when his 2005 Nissan Sentra went off the road and hit a tree around 8:00 p.m., Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel said.

Walthall was pronounced dead at the scene, and Daniel said the victim was not wearing a seatbelt.

Jessica Nicole Maddox, 26, was a passenger in the car and was seriously injured. She was taken to UAB Hospital.

Daniel said that Maddox was not wearing a seatbelt, either.

The crash happened on Gallant Road, three miles north of Ashville.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the wreck.
