Gilroy, CA : One person killed, one injured in a fatal crash on State Route 101 near Gilroy on Friday morning, February 6, 2015
A woman was killed and a truck driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning near Gilroy, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 8:40 a.m., officers responded to a collision at Highway 101 just south of Masten Avenue, said CHP Officer Herb Kellogg.
A white pickup truck and a blue Honda SUV collided after the truck driver drifted from the right lane onto the right shoulder before overcorrecting and T-boning the SUV in the left lane, Kellogg said. The collision caused both cars to overturn and come to a rest in the center divider.
The driver of the SUV, a woman, died in the collision, but she has not been identified, Kellogg added.
The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a cause of the collision, but officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
