Louisville, KY : One woman is dead after a single car wreck on U.S.60 on Sunday early morning August 31st 2014

One woman is dead after a single car wreck at 4:30 a.m. Sunday on U.S.60 near the intersection of North Madison Avenue in Middletown. Officials say Katie Kapple, 21, was driving a Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed when she lost control and left the roadway, striking a utility pole. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:44 a.m. from multiple blunt force injuries. Police says there were no passengers and no other vehicles were involved. Investigators are citing the wet roadway and speed as contributing factors to the collision. They are also looking into whether alcohol played a role.
