Milwaukee, WI : Driver dead after stolen car hits pole on south side early Thursday morning, Nov 12, 2015

A driver is dead after a car crash on the city's south side early Thursday morning, police said.

The incident happened around 12:45 a.m. in the 2300 block of S. 16th St., according to the Milwaukee Police Department. An unknown man who police are working to identify was driving a stolen Dodge Intrepid at a high rate of speed south on S. 16th St. when the vehicle left the road and hit a pole. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other people in the vehicle.

Police said the driver stole the vehicle from a dealership near S. 16th St. and W. Forest Home Ave. before the crash.
