Wauseon ,OH : One dead in overnight crash on Ohio Turnpike on Wednesday ,July 29th 2015
There were major overnight delays on the Ohio Turnpike following a deadly crash early Wednesday morning. Both westbound lanes were shut down for several hours this morning at mile marker 37 near Wauseon. They have since reopened.
WTOL-11 spoke with the driver of one of the tractor trailers involved. He says his truck broke down on the middle of the road. He and his partner got out of the truck and used flashlights to try to warn other drivers.
47-year-old Russell Florida, of Warren, Ohio, was driving an oncoming Conway freight truck. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers say Florida crashed directly into the idle semi.
Witnesses describe the impact as an explosion, like a bomb going off. The driver of the Conway died at the scene.
