Sugar Grove, IL : Pedestrians injured in traffic crash at Route 47 and Jericho Road near Sugar Grove early Sunday, May 22, 2016
Two pedestrians were injured in a traffic trash early Sunday at Route 47 and Jericho Road near Sugar Grove, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
David Anderson, 43, of Bristol and Curtis Lippold, 26, of Aurora had left a gas station and were attempting to cross Route 47 to get to the west side of the road about 12:25 a.m. in Sugar Grove Township when they were struck by a car traveling south on Route 47, the release stated.
Frank Tofteland, 22, of Yorkville was driving a 2016 Chevy Spark which struck the pedestrians. Anderson was flown by helicopter from the scene to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Lippold was taken by ambulance to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora and was later flown by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan as well, according to the release.
Sheriff's deputies were assisted by Montgomery, Yorkville and Sugar Grove police, as well as the Kane County Office of Emergency Management and the Sugar Grove Fire Department. No charges have been filed. Route 47 was closed about about three hours following the crash, the release stated.
The crash remains under investigation.
