Fort Wayne, FL : 1 hospitalized after 2-vehicle crash on Thursday, 16th January, 2020

A woman in her 80s was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash at Pontiac and Hanna streets Thursday afternoon, Fort Wayne police said.

Police said they were called to the intersection at 2:30 p.m. because of the accident and found both drivers with minor injuries.

While the drivers were being treated, police said, the condition of one driver deteriorated, and she was taken to a local hospital, where she was found to have life-threatening injuries.

Police said the traffic lights at the intersection were out and stop signs had been placed for traffic control before the crash; one vehicle was traveling north on Hanna and the other was headed east on Pontiac when they collided.

Police closed the intersection while taking measurements and collecting evidence, but they said they expected it would be reopened within an hour.
