Levelland,TX : Levelland man injured in fatal crash released from hospital on July, Thursday 27th 2017

Wesley Wright, a 22-year-old Levelland man injured in a fatal crash on Thursday morning in northwest Lubbock County, was treated and released from University Medical Center, according to hospital spokesman Eric Finley.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. in the area of FM 2641 and FM 179 when the Chevrolet pickup driven by Wright crashed into a Chevrolet El Camino, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. John Gonzalez.According to Gonzalez, Wright was traveling eastbound on FM 2641 when he crashed into the El Camino as it traveled southbound on FM 179.

The driver of the El Camino, 68-year-old Hershel Vernon Newman Jr. of Shallowater, was taken to UMC where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary reports indicate Wright may have disregarded a stop sign. Gonzalez said the crash remains under investigation.
