Manatee County, FL : Motorcycle rider hurt in Manatee County crash on Sunday, 1st September 2019
A motorcycle rider was critically hurt in a crash on State Road 70 in Manatee County on Sunday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
According to the FHP, a Hyundai Elantra driven by Robert Byron Pusey, 23, of Parrish was southbound on First Street East and stopped at the stop sign at S.R. 70 (53rd Avenue East) shortly before 10 p.m. A Suzuki motorcycle driven by Floyd David Lee Laycock, 26, of Bradenton was westbound on S.R. 70 in the left lane approaching First Street.
The Hyundai turned left onto S.R. 70 and crossed the westbound lanes as the Suzuki approached. The front of the Suzuki collided with the front left side of the Hyundai and caught on fire.
Laycock, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Blake Medical Center with critical injuries. Pusey, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. A passenger in the Hyundai, Joshua Steven Santiago, 22, of Parrish, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
