New york, NY : 72-year-old bicyclist struck and killed by SUV near his Brooklyn home on Wednesday, Aug 5, 2015

A 72-year-old Brooklyn has been killed while riding his bicycle near his home.

Police say it happened around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday as Rigoberto Diaz was making a wide left turn from 48th Street onto Third Avenue in the borough's Sunset Park section.

They say he was hit by a SUV headed north on Third Avenue.

Diaz was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver remained on the scene and was not charged.
