Greenbank, WA : One person dead and two injured in a head-on crash Highway 525 on Thursday September 10 2015
One person was killed and a second person was airlifted after a head-on crash Thursday on a rural Whidbey Island highway, the Washington State Patrol reports.
State troopers and medics responded to the scene, on Highway 525 just south of the town of Greenbank, at about 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious accident.
Three people were found with serious injuries at the scene, and one of them died at the scene. Another person was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and troopers said the third person also would likely be airlifted to Harborview.
State Trooper Mark Francis said two cars had collided head-on, but the circumstances leading up to the crash were not immediately known.
Highway 525 is closed south of Keystone and is expected to remain closed for some time, effectively shutting down vehicular access to the southern half of Whidbey Island from the north.
