BARABOO, WI : Driver in Sauk Co. bus stop crash that killed 13-year-old girl pleads guilty, will serve probation on Wednesday, 31st July 2024

The teen driver charged in the crash that killed a 13-year-old Reedsburg girl who was about to board her school bus last year pleaded guilty and was ordered to probation Wednesday.

Kevin Green, 19, pleaded guilty to homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle in the death of Evelyn Gurney. Judge Michael Screnock decided during the hearing to withhold sentencing and order four years of probation for Green. The probation terms include three months of jail time with huber privileges and electronic monitoring, meaning he could leave for approved reasons like work or school.

Green was also ordered to 200 hours of community service and to participate in eight community service presentations about distracted driving with high school aged students. His driver’s license has been revoked for one year and he cannot contact the Gurney family.
