Nashville, TN : Pedestrian hit, killed by pizza delivery driver in south Nashville on Saturday night, March 12, 2016

A pedestrian has died after police say he was struck by a pizza delivery driver in south Nashville.

According to Metro police, the driver, 53-year-old Jay Jackson, stopped after hitting 60-year-old Stephen Moseley on Saturday night but left before police got there.

Jackson told police he heard something hit the van and stopped to see what it was.

Jackson said he saw Moseley lying in the roadway and checked on him but said he seemed to be OK.

Police said they believe Moseley was drinking at the time and was crossing Nolensville Pike in the rain more than 1,000 feet from the nearest crosswalk.

Moseley was wearing dark clothing and it's possible that Jackson did not see him.

The district attorney's office will be determining whether or not to file charges.
