Rio vista,CA : Driver killed after his car sank into a slough near Jackson Slough Road on Sunday ,May 24th 2015

A driver was killed late Sunday night after his car sank into a slough in the Delta near Jackson Slough Road, officials said.

The California Highway Patrol said the car went off Brannan Island Road near Rio Vista.

A passenger was able to escape without any injuries.

The driver, however, was not able to get out and drowned, the CHP said.

A dive team was called to the crash site and pulled the car out of the water.

The CHP said the investigation is ongoing into what caused the crash.
