Logan, UT : Police investigating four-vehicle crash in Smithfield on Friday, 28th October 2016
Five people were taken by ambulance to local hospitals after a four-vehicle crash shortly after 7 p.m. Friday night in Smithfield.
The crash occurred at about 850 S. Main, where the speed limit changes from 55 miles per hour to 45 heading northbound into Smithfield.
Police are still investigating the details of the crash, but Sgt. Trevor Larson said that speed appears to be a contributing factor. The condition of the people involved was not disclosed, and police were not releasing names of people involved as of press time.
Responders closed down all but one lane of southbound traffic and redirected northbound traffic as authorities gathered evidence, for at least more than half an hour Friday night.
Larson said it's still unknown to what extent weather was a contributing factor in the crash.
"Especially when it's raining and it's wet roads, you've got to drop that speed."
