One person died in a single vehicle accident on U.S. 49 in Brooklyn Monday morning.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Master Sgt. Brent Barfield, the female driver was traveling north on 49 when she over corrected, lost control of the vehicle and went into the trees just before 9 a.m.

Barfield said the driver was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver has been identified as Sierra Jones, 19, of Ocean Springs, who was pronounced dead on the scene according to Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem.
