VACAVILLE, CA : Fairfield man dies in early morning crash on Tuesday, March 28th 2017
A 39-year-old Fairfield man was killed early Tuesday when his car drifted off the right side of Interstate 505 and hit some trees, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man, who was identified as Rudy Lee Carabajal, 39, of Fairfield, by the Solano County Coroner’s Office, was driving south at about 2:38 a.m. on I-505 south of Vaca Valley Parkway when, for an unknown reason, his 2008 Honda Civic drifted off the right shoulder, went through a fence and collided with two trees.
The Honda split in half and the man was ejected, according to the CHP. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The majority of his car came to rest on East Monte Vista Avenue, which fronts the interstate. Authorities closed Monte Vista to vehicular traffic for several hours as the scene was cleared.
High speed was a factor in the crash, according to the CHP. The crash was still under investigation.
