Westminster, MD : 60-year-old Kathleen Tyson dead and one injured when car collided with a bus in Westminster on Thursday, March 26, 2015

A woman was killed and a man was injured after a two-vehicle collision in Carroll County.

Police and fire crews were called to Medford Road at Stone Chapel Road in Westminster at 8:23 a.m. Thursday where they found two vehicles, a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette and a Ford Econoline bus, involved in a crash.

In a preliminary investigation, authorities believe the bus was traveling northbound on Stone Chapel Road and attempted to cross Medford Road after coming to a stop at the stop sign when it was struck by the Corvette, which was traveling eastbound on Medford Road.

The passenger of the Corvette was taken to Carroll Hospital Center where she was later pronounced dead. She was identified as Kathleen Gail Tyson, 60, of New Windsor.

The driver of the Corvette, identified as Robert Grant Tyson Jr., 62, of New Windsor, was taken to Carroll Hospital Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the bus was identified as Ginger Marie Gallagher, 51, of Westminster. Authorities said she was not injured and refused medical care.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing. Charges, if applicable, will be determined pending the outcome of the investigation and upon review with the Carroll County States Attorney's Office.
