Derry, N.H : One driver injured after a serious two-car crash in the areas of Bypass 28 and English Range Road on Tuesday, Oct 6, 2015

A portion of Bypass 28 in Derry was closed for hours Tuesday night after a serious two-car crash.

Derry police said the crash happened in the areas of Bypass 28 and English Range Road. The accident reconstruction unit was investigating.

Derry fire responded to the scene just after 4 p.m. and found that the two cars had T-boned. The driver of one car suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the green car was trapped inside with life-threatening injuries.

Fire officials said it took crews around 20 minutes to extricate that driver, who was not wearing a seat belt and had been thrown from the driver seat to the passenger seat. The driver was airlifted to Tuft's New England Medical Center.

The crash is under investigation.
