Middleboro, MA : Man killed in morning crash on I-495 on Thursday morning June 26th 2014

State police are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 495 that happened Thursday morning.

Police said the car was being operated by a man and lost control Thursday morning, veering off the roadway and striking a bridge abutment to the left of the highway. According to police, the operator was pronounced dead at the scene, and his name will be released after police notify the next of kin.

Troopers from the Middleboro barracks responded to reports of the "serious one car motor vehicle crash" Thursday morning at about 10:19 a.m. on Route 495's southbound lane in Middleboro, according to police. The left lane was closed Thursday morning to facilitate medical response, investigation and cleanup of the crash.

Massachusetts State Police were assisted by members of the State Police Crime scene Services Section, the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, as well as the state Department of Transportation and Middleboro Fire Department.
