A woman died and two men were injured Friday after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Main and West Beecher streets in Adrian.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection at about 7:50 p.m. According to multiple witnesses who were at the scene when the crash occurred, the pickup was being driven recklessly at a high rate of speed west on Beecher Street, ran a red light at the South Main Street intersection and plowed into the back of a small, silver, four-door sedan that had just turned left onto West Beecher Street from South Main Street.
According to witnesses, the sedan rolled multiple times, sustaining heavy damage and finally coming to a stop about 300 feet west of the intersection.
The pickup, which also sustained heavy damage including completely dislocating its rear axle, came to a stop facing the opposite direction in the eastbound lane of Beecher, west of the intersection, directly in front of the Walgreens pharmacy.
Glass, vehicle parts and some of their contents littered West Beecher the entire distance that he vehicles traveled after the crash, including an empty box of diapers that witnesses said came from the sedan.
Police closed Beecher to traffic between South Main and Scott streets.
