A Perinton bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by two vehicles in Fairport on Thursday night.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Vincent Jacobs, 21, was riding his bicycle along Whitney Road around 7 p.m. when he was struck.
Deputies said Jacobs had just finished speaking with a friend at the Pines of Perinton apartment complex. "He rode his bike along the patch that leads south out of the complex and across Whitney Road to Park Street," deputies said.
Based on witness accounts, Jacobs didn't stop or yield to traffic on Whitney Road. He was struck by an eastbound car when he was in the crosswalk.
The collision sent him into the westbound lane where he was hit by a second vehicle.
He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and put in a medically-induced coma.
Traffic was closed for a few hours while the collision was investigated.
