CLARK COUNTY, IN : Crashes in both directions of I-65 in Clark County on Monday, 15th July 2024
Drivers in southern Indiana experienced some delays in their Monday morning commute due to a crash involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 65.
Crews in Clark County were called to I-65 South at Exit 16: Memphis-Blue Lick Road at about 6:30 a.m. for a reported crash. The Indiana Department of Transportation said all lanes would be blocked for hours, so traffic was diverted at Memphis. One of the lanes opened back up at about 10 a.m.
Firefighters also responded since both of the semi-trucks caught on fire and one of the drivers was taken to a nearby hospital. That driver is expected to survive their injuries.
The Indiana State Police said one of the drivers drove off the roadway when reaching for a drink and hit the other semi-truck that was already broken down in the emergency lane.
Crews are continuing to work on clearing debris and the crash is still being investigated.
