Providence , RI : Teen accused in fatal DUI crash to be tried as an adult on Sunday, 4th September 2016
The 17-year-old accused of driving drunk and killing a motorcyclist will be tried as an adult.
The Office of Attorney General filed a motion to waive 17-year-old Hunter Stephenson, of Warwick, out of Family Court to be tried as an adult in the death of 21-year-old Thomas J. Hug of Hopkinton.
Stephenson’s counsel agreed to the motion and was arraigned on three charges in Washington County District Court: DUI death resulting, driving to endanger death resulting, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
Stephenson was held on $10,000 personal recognizance.
Police say Stephenson was driving drunk when he crossed a median on Route 1 in Charlestown last week and slammed into Hug’s motorcycle.
