Jersey City, NJ : Jersey City police officer found not guilty of death by auto in hit-and-run trial on Thursday October 22 2015

A Jersey City police officer has been found not guilty of death by auto in an accident that left a pedestrian dead.
The Hudson County jury found Officer Michael Spolizino's not guilty of death by auto and leaving the scene of a fatal accident on Thursday.
Spolizio was off duty when prosecutors say his vehicle struck 24-year-old Stephen Clifford on Kennedy Boulevard in 2013. Spolizino told officers that he did not see Clifford and the pedestrian "came out of nowhere."
A witness testified that Spolizio had returned to the scene of the crash within 10 minutes.
Judge Paul DePascale on Tuesday threw out an aggravated manslaughter charge.
