3 dead in multi-car pileup in Michigan City Indiana

Three people were killed Thursday afternoon in a multiple-vehicle accident that shut down I-94 near Michigan City, Indiana authorities said.
Only one person remained pinned in to the wreckage as of 6:30 p.m., and firefighters are working to cut that person out of the vehicle, state police said.
"It's just a mess out there right now," Sullivan said.
The crash at mile marker 36 in LaPorte County involved at least 15 semi-trailer trucks and multiple other passenger vehicles, police said. Other injuries were reported, but the extent of the injures was not known.
