Passenger dies after DUII driver crashes into 2 vehicles

Portland police arrested a man who they said was driving under the influence when he crashed into two cars in two separate crashes in Southeast Portland Sunday morning.
Six other people were injured in the two crashes. One person, who was critically injured, died in a hospital Monday night, police said.
Sgt. Pete Simpson said Nathan William Wisbeck, 26, crashed his pickup truck into a car at Southeast 12th Avenue and Morrison Street and drove away from the scene at around 2 a.m. One of the three passengers in the car called 911 as they began to follow Wisbeck’s truck, Simpson said.
None of the passengers in the car suffered life-threatening injuries.
Wisbeck later drove through a stop sign at Southeast 20th Avenue and Madison Street and crashed into a minivan, causing it to roll onto its side and into a building at the corner of the intersection, according to police. The driver of the minivan, 28-year-old Sarah Grace Anderson, suffered traumatic injuries but it expected to survive. A passenger in the minivan, 28-year-old Stephen Alan Person, was critically injured and died at the hospital, police said.
Police said additional charges against Wisbeck will be considered.
KATU spoke with Anderson's father, Paul Anderson, at the scene of the crash on Sunday. He said he visited his daughter at the hospital after the crash, then went to his friend's church to preach and teach Sunday school.
On my way back to the hospital, I though I'd try to find the scene, just to get a sense of what happened," he said. "I just wanted to see where it happened and also see if the van was still here. Sarah was using our family van, and fortunately the airbags went off and that provided some protection for her."
Anderson was cited for DUII at the hospital. Her father said she had bruises and cuts on her face, and suffered several broken bones.
Wisbeck was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. Police took him to the Multnomah County Jail. He faces charges of assault (2nd degree), DUII, Hit and run and reckless driving.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
