MILTON, NH : Two men hurt in Spaulding crash on Wednesday, February 15th 2017
Two men were injured in a head-on collision on the Spaulding Turnpike in Milton on Wednesday afternoon, according to State Police.
Police said a 2011 Chevy Silverado, being driven by Dennis Hartigan, age 60, of Saugus, Mass., was traveling southbound and lost control of his truck and entered the northbound lane. The truck hit a 2006 Hyundai Tucson being driven by James Guptill, age 82, of East Wakefield, police said.
Hartigan and Guptill sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Frisbie Memorial Hospital for treatment. Both men were wearing their seatbelts, police said.
According to police, the roadway was beginning to form ice in some areas at the time of the accident. Traveling too fast for the existing road conditions on the part of Hartigan appeared to be a possible contributing factor, police said. The right travel lane was closed for approximately 45 minutes and traffic was diverted off of Exit 17.
Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the police departments from Milton and Farmington, the fire departments from Milton and Rochester and the state department of transportation.
This accident remains under investigation, police said. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact State Police at 603-223-8490.
