Two people from Fort Myers were killed Sunday in a multiple-vehicle crash on southbound I-75 near Sarasota.
A third Fort Myers resident was seriously injured in the crash and a man from Haines City was also killed, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Among the two from Fort Myers who died was Nathaniel Perkins, 23, and Johneisha Gadson, 22, the FHP said.

An FHP report said Perkins, driving a 2016 Nissan Murano, swerved into the shoulder and struck the rear of a car hauler semi parked along the shoulder due to a mechanical problem.
A third vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Avalon, then hit Perkins' car, ejecting him and Gadson. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi was also hit and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Three occupants of the third vehicle, all from port Charlotte, received minor injuries.
The FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
