Dallas City, IL : Hancock County crash ejects man from car onto roof of home on Friday morning, October 17, 2014
A Colorado man was seriously injured in a Dallas City, Illinois, crash early Friday morning when he was ejected from his car and onto the roof of a home.
Eugene Mathew Roy, 29, of Pueblo, Colorado, was travelling eastbound on IL-96 near Poplar Street just before 2 a.m. Friday when he lost control of his car and ran off the south side of the roadway, striking a concrete retaining wall, the Illinois State Police report stated.
According to the report, the car then came back across both lanes of IL-96 and ran off the north side of the roadway near Birch Street when it rolled multiple times.
As the vehicle rolled, police say Roy was ejected from the car and landed on the roof of the house.
The car struck a house, police reported.
Once responders located Roy, he was removed from the roof and taken by Air-Evac flight to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, according to the report. He was later transferred to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.
Troopers with the ISP were assisted by the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, the Dallas City Police Department, the Dallas City Rural Fire Protection District, the Hancock County EMS, Lomax Ambulance and Air-Evac.
Charges are pending and authorities have launched an investigation.
