Houston, TX : Houston police cruiser catches fire after crash with 18-wheeler on Monday, August 4, 2014
A Houston police car has erupted in flames after a crash with an 18-wheeler.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the police officer involved complained of pain in his wrist after the collision around 8-00 p.m. Monday along the service road of northbound Interstate 45.
The officer was responding to a report of a child locked in a car at the time of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Cavalcade Street. Its impact caused the police cruiser to spin into the intersection, then catch fire.
A witness said the cruiser was not using its siren and only flipped on its flashing lights shortly before the crash.
The officer was sent to the hospital for examination. The truck driver was checked for injuries as the scene.
