Houston, TX : Houston police cruiser catches fire after crash with 18-wheeler on Monday, August 4, 2014

A Houston police car has erupted in flames after a crash with an 18-wheeler. The Houston Chronicle reports that the police officer involved complained of pain in his wrist after the collision around 8-00 p.m. Monday along the service road of northbound Interstate 45. The officer was responding to a report of a child locked in a car at the time of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Cavalcade Street. Its impact caused the police cruiser to spin into the intersection, then catch fire. A witness said the cruiser was not using its siren and only flipped on its flashing lights shortly before the crash. The officer was sent to the hospital for examination.
