Four killed in wrecks 20 minutes apart in Tuscaloosa Alabama

Four people were killed in two separate traffic accidents Wednesday night.
Three young men were killed in Coker after crashing into a large work truck. A Moundville man was killed 20 minutes later when his motorcycle hit a deer that was crossing Alabama Highway 69 South.
Johnny Channell, Jared Porter and Brandon Campbell, all 23, died at the scene of the wreck on U.S. Highway 82 and Sam Sutton Road. Timmy Barrett, 50, was killed in the motorcycle crash.
In the Coker wreck, Northport police investigators said that Channell was driving south on Sam Sutton Road in a Ford F-150 at 6:49 p.m. A witness said that he ran through a stop sign while traveling about 30 miles per hour, Northport Police Chief Robert Green said Thursday morning. The truck collided with a Ford F-650 work truck that was traveling west on U.S. 82 at about 55 miles per hour, Green said. The three young men were killed from injuries they received when they were ejected from the truck.
“The southbound vehicle burst into flames after coming to rest,” Green said. “The occupants of the southbound vehicle did not receive any burn injuries as a result of the explosion.”
The F-650 flipped and landed upside down in a riverbed, Green said. Driver Scottie Phillips, 24, was listed in fair condition at DCH Regional Medical Center on Thursday.
“This accident is still under investigation, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones left behind by the victims,” Green said.
Channell lived in Buhl, Porter lived in Coker and Campbell lived in Elrod.
