Fort Dodge, IA : One injured in motorcycle vs. car wreck on Sunday, March 19th 2017
A Fort Dodge man was seriously injured in a motorcycle versus car crash Sunday afternoon.
Raymond Caquelin, 64, was riding the motorcycle when it was hit by a car at the intersection of Second Avenue North and North 15th Street.
Caquelin reportedly suffered broken bones and a possible head injury, according to Officer Paul Samuelson, of the Fort Dodge Police Department.
The motorcycle was hit a by a car driven by M’kenzie Beam, 15, of Fort Dodge.
Beam was traveling northbound when she attempted to make a left-hand turn, Samuelson reported.Caquelin was traveling southbound.
Beam indicated that she did not see the motorcycle when she attempted to turn onto Second Avenue North, according to Samuelson.
Officers on scene believe the impact of the crash caused Caquelin to be thrown from the motorcycle and into a traffic pole, Samuelson reported.
A 1-year-old child was reportedly in the car at the time of the crash.
Beam and the child were both uninjured, Samuelson said.Beam was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn and violation of permit.
The registered owner of the car is Kimberly Johnson, 23, of Dayton.
Johnson was cited for allowing an unauthorized person to drive.
Caquelin’s injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening, according to Fort Dodge police. He was transported by ambulance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.
