Sarasota County, FL : Englewood man seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 north on Thursday, Oct 22, 2015

An Englewood man who was seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning on Interstate 75 has died.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol:

Ricardo Gonzalez, 56, of Englewood died Monday of his injuries. He was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after the three-vehicle accident.

Gonzalez was driving a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound in the right lane of I-75 near the University Parkway exit. A Volvo 6X4 truck driven by Frederick Guinard, 66, of Seffner attempted to stop for traffic that was backed up, but failed to do so.

Guinard's truck collided with the rear of Gonzalez's pickup and pushed it into the back of a 2014 Cadillac SRX driven by Thomas Nieden, 56, of Sarasota.

Gonzalez was seriously injured; Nieden was taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Guinard and a passenger in Nieden's car were not injured.
