Roxbury,MA : Carjack suspect nabbed after crash on August, Sunday 13th 2017

A man accused of carjacking a woman at knifepoint early yesterday morning led cops on a foot chase after crashing the stolen vehicle in Roxbury, police said.

Officers responding to a reported two-car motor vehicle accident on Columbia Road about 12:50 a.m. found two people with minor injuries and noticed the driver of the second car fleeing the scene on foot, according to police. After a brief chase, Byren McGee, 31, of Dorchester was arrested as he tried to climb a fence behind a nearby restaurant. While he was being frisked for weapons, police said they found an empty knife sheath in his waistband.

After McGee was under arrest, police say the officers learned the owner of the vehicle he had been driving reported being recently carjacked at knifepoint in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Theodore Glynn Way.

McGee, who police said had an outstanding warrant out of Dorchester District Court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime, is now facing charges including leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with personal injury and carjacking.

He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow.
