Tacoma, WA : Woman struck, killed by car exiting Interstate 5 in Tacoma on Tuesday, March 31, 2015
A woman was killed early Tuesday when she tried to cross an Interstate 5 off-ramp in Tacoma and was struck by a vehicle getting off the freeway.
The woman, who was a transient, has not been identified.
Police said she was hit about 12:10 a.m. near Portland Avenue by a man who was driving home from work.
The driver immediately pulled over to look for the woman but could not find her. Officers found her on the side of the off-ramp when they arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the driver was searching for the woman before help arrived, two other cars passed by.
“Officers were concerned the other two cars may have hit her,” Officer Shelby Boyd said.
Investigators do not believe the driver did anything wrong. He was not cited.
