Ramsey County, MN : Man dies in crash near Devils Lake on U.S. Highway 2 on Monday, 17th September 2018
A Grand Forks man died after rear-ending a semitrailer on Tuesday in Ramsey County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 3:02 p.m. on U.S. Highway 2, approximately 6 miles east of Devils Lake. The 50-year-old Grand Forks man was traveling east when his 2016 Kia Sportage struck the rear of a 2014 Mack truck pulling an empty dry van trailer that was preparing to turn left into a business on the north side of U.S. Highway 2.The driver of the Kia, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, the patrol said. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The driver of the Mack truck, Trenton Beckedahl, 47, Devils Lake, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
The eastbound lanes were briefly obstructed. The crash remains under investigation by the patrol.
Devils Lake Fire Department and Devils Lake Rural Fire, Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and Lake Region Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
