Bowie, MD : Montgomery County Firefighter Garrett Greene Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Bowie on May 8th 2014
A Montgomery County fire fighter died Thursday afternoon after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a sedan in Bowie, Md., authorities said.
Fire Fighter Garrett Greene, 24, was killed in the fatal crash and was assigned to a station in Aspen Hill, said Pete Piringer, spokesman for the Montgomery County fire department said.
Greene also served as a volunteer fire fighter in Prince George’s County, according to an announcement from the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. near Central Avenue and Enterprise Road, said Mark Brady, a spokesman with the Prince George’s County fire department. When crews arrived on the scene, Greene was found pinned under an overturned car. The driver of the car was also trapped in her vehicle after the crash.
Greene was pronounced dead at the scene, Brady said. The driver was removed from her car and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Maryland State Police are investigating the details of what prompted the crash, Brady said.
