Anaheim,CA : Driver killed after slamming into contractor's truck in Anaheim; 91 Fwy back open on August, Tuesday 29th 2017

All lanes on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Anaheim were back open hours after a driver plowed into a contractor's truck, killing himself. The crash snarled traffic for miles during the morning commute Tuesday.

The crash was reported about 3:30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the 91 near the Tustin Avenue off-ramp.

Authorities said a driver traveling at an unknown speed in a Lexus ES300 approached a closure while, at the same time, a private contractor was in the process of reopening the lane.

The contractor was outside his Ford F350 truck picking up a sign board when the driver crashed into the sign and the Ford. The contractor had seen the Lexus coming toward him and got out of the way in time.

The driver, who police said was a 35-year-old man from the Inland Empire, was killed at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

All eastbound lanes near Tustin Avenue were temporarily shut down. The freeway was back open at about 6 a.m.

The cause of the crash was not yet known.
