Mooresville, NC : Troopers ID man killed in vehicle crash at I-77 rest stop on May 13th 2014

Troopers with the NC Highway Patrol say 61-year-old Thomas Parrott was killed when his car slammed into the rear of a tractor trailer at rest stop on southbound Interstate 77 in Mooresville.

The crash was reported just before 8 a.m. on Monday at mile marker 38 just north of Mooresville, according to the NC Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on the exit ramp from the interstate to the rest area on the south bound side.

Troopers say Parrott died on impact.

There were no skid marks prior to the impact point with the truck, troopers say.

An autopsy is being performed by the NC State Medical Examiner's Office.
