Orlando, FL : Two dead after shootout, rollover crash in Orange County, deputies say on Sunday, March 26th 2017

Deputies on Sunday were looking for a vehicle that fled after a shootout and rollover crash in Orange County that left two people dead.

Investigators were called about noon to 23rd Street and Orange Blossom Trail after a caller reported gunfire between two vehicles.

They were told one vehicle fled the scene and crashed at 1029 23rd Street, south of Kaley Avenue at Westmoreland Drive, Orange County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jeff Williamson said.

When deputies arrived, they found a man wounded inside the pickup and a woman trapped underneath the vehicle, Williamson said.

Investigators said the man was pulled from a truck by firefighters and deputies. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later died.The woman was already dead when she was pulled from the pickup, Williamson said.

The pair were identified Sunday night as Darlene Harriell, 32, and Sylvio Montina, 29.

Williamson said a small blue sedan or hatchback fled after the shooting. It was last seen heading west in the southbound lanes of Orange Blossom Trail.

Deputies set up crime scene tape at 2300 Orange Blossom Trail after finding shell casings and put up tape around the area of the crash.

About a dozen family members gathered around the scene, many of whom were crying. Two emotional family members also got into a small scuffle as they sat near where deputies were guarding the dark-colored pickup, which was on its side with all of its windows smashed out.

A man, who only wanted to be identified as Tony out of fear of retribution, said he was sitting on his porch when he heard a series of “pops.”

Tony said immediately after that, the truck sped past him and flew through a stop sign. That’s when he heard a loud crash.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “It’s been so quiet around here lately, and we’ve all been so happy, then this happens in broad daylight on a Sunday when people are at church.”Rajattie Persaud, who lives up the street from the shooting, also said the neighborhood used to be crime-ridden, but lately they haven’t many problems.

She said they’d hear gunfire nearly every night.

“That’s why I have a gate around my house,” she said. “I want to be safe. You never know what’s going to happen around here.”

The Haitian Church of the Brethren, which is right next to where the shooting took place, also appeared to be hit by gunfire.

No one inside the church was reported injured.
