After going off the road and hitting a tree, a motorcycle came to rest upside down with its two passengers on the ground nearby seriously injured.
A man and a woman are recovering in Boston hospitals after they were badly injured in a motorcycle crash in Bridgewater Sunday night.
The crash happened on Bedford St. (Route 18), near Winter Place Plaza, around 8 p.m.
The driver of the 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, David Mitchell, 49, of Middleboro, drove off the roadway and into a tree, Bridgewater Police Lt. Thomas Schlatz said.
Mitchell and his passenger, Romy Karakostas, 53, of Wareham, were both thrown from the motorcycle and were seriously injured in the single-vehicle crash, Schlatz said.
Mitchell was flown by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and Karakostas was taken by ambulance to Boston Medical Center.
The crash was being investigated by the State Police accident reconstruction unit.
As of Monday evening, Mitchell was in serious condition and Karakostas was in fair condition, according to hospital officials.
