Oroville, CA : Oroville woman crashes into tree, arrested for suspected DUI on Friday, 7th October 2016

An Oroville woman who was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs was arrested after crashing into a tree, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol.

Around 5:05 p.m. Friday, Brandi Cassell, 43, was driving a 1989 Acura northbound on Forbestown Road, north of Hurlton Road, when her car veered off the east side of the road and struck a large pine tree, the release said. The impact caused the car to spin in a counterclockwise direction and come to a rest at the bottom of a ditch. Cassell was pinned in the car and had to be extricated by Cal Fire.

She sustained major injuries and was taken to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, where she was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and for being in possession of a controlled substance, the release said. She was wearing her seat belt at the time.
