Brunswick ,GA : Car crash in East River leaves one dead on August, Monday 14th 2017

A vehicle crashed into the East River at N and Newcastle streets Monday night, leaving at least one person dead inside, Brunswick Police Chief Kevin Jones confirmed.

A police officer tried to reach the person in the submerged vehicle, but the currents in the river were too strong, Jones said.

At around 9:20 p.m. a dive team from the Glynn County Emergency Management Agency search and rescue team was trying to reach the vehicle, which was submerged in about 10 to 12 feet of water, Jones said. More victims may have been inside, but the police officer saw at least one person in the vehicle when he first dove in the water, Jones said.
