An 18-year-old girl from Tabor City died after being thrown from a vehicle in a single-car crash Friday morning.
According to Columbus County Assistant Coroner William Hannah, the driver of the vehicle apparently lost control after hitting standing water from early morning rainfall on Sidney Cherry Grove Road, near Gapway Church Road, around 9 a.m.
Adrianna Fowler, a passenger in the vehicle, was thrown about 30 to 40 feet, and died as a result of head trauma, according to Hannah.
The car came to rest in a field, and appeared to have rolled over at least once.
At least one other person in the car was taken by EMS to the hospital. Their condition is unknown.
