EAGLE, NE : A 47-year-old man died near Eagle in a crash on Friday, July 14, 2017

A 47-year-old man died Friday morning near Eagle in a crash involving his motorcycle and a semi-tractor trailer, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Chris Badman, of South Bend, was riding his motorcycle north on Nebraska 43 around 9 a.m. when a southbound flatbed semi turned left onto Shire Drive, according to a release.

Badman hit the back of the semi cab and the front of the trailer, according to Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann.

The truck driver, Michael Bauman of Rock Rapids, Iowa, attempted to help Badman, but deputies pronounced him dead at the scene, the release said.

The investigation is ongoing, but alcohol is not considered a factor.
