A Corvallis man died in the hospital Saturday after sheriff's deputies say he lost control of his car and crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 20 near Albany.

Four people inside the SUV were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.The crash happened at around 3:40 p.m. Saturday when Boyd Taylor, 48, of Corvallis lost control of his Kia Sportage and went into the oncoming lane of traffic on the highway, the Benton County Sheriff's Office said.

Officials said an eastbound GMC Sierra hit the passenger side of Taylor's car a third of a mile east of the Scenic Drive intersection.

Taylor was transported to a Corvallis-area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, sheriff's officials said.

The GMC's driver, Jeffrey Cummings, 32, of Philomath, his passenger Noelle Cummings, 29, and two young boys, ages 11 and 6, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Taylor was not wearing a seat belt, crash investigators said.
