Washington, PA : Monongahela woman killed in North Strabane wreck on Saturday afternoon, March 18, 2017

A Monongahela woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Route 19 in North Strabane Township Saturday afternoon.

Elizabeth Paige Bright, 20, was pronounced dead on the overpass at Route 519 at 4:10 p.m. by Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, who did not list a cause of death.

Bright was traveling southbound about 3:30 p.m. as a passenger in a car driven by Tyra Daube, 19, of Monongahela. Daube lost control of her vehicle and it crossed into northbound traffic, colliding with an SUV operated by Kara Pappas, 37, of Washington, township police Sgt. Dave Richards said.

Daube was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, by medical helicopter from a landing zone at the North Strabane Township Municipal ball field. The extent of Daube’s injuries was not known.

Pappas and her 15-year-old and 4-year-old passengers were treated at Canonsburg Hospital and released, Richards said.

According to Warco, Bright was not wearing a seat belt.

Southbound traffic on Route 19 was rerouted onto Route 519, while northbound traffic was temporarily backed up.

North Strabane Fire Department and Canonsburg EMS assisted. North Strabane police are investigating.
